Commute replacement

As expected, the appeal from the legs failed to convince the emergency committee meeting in my head that they weren’t up to it. I suited up looking forward to a sunny ride to work followed by a warm rambling mid afternoon adventure home wherever the wheels would take me.

And then master11 comes down with a blocked nose and sore throat. In my day I would be forced to walk to school if I felt like that only to be sent home an hour later when I would walk back home, let myself in and feel sorry for myself until Mum got home from work.

These days it isn’t like that-a parent has to collect so I reluctantly agreed to stay home with him as it is more hassle to leave work suddenly in case I was needed. Especially as I was riding my bike in. It’s not like I had a busy day anyway and I could do some work from home. Which is what I did for 2 boring hours until I had enough. Even the legs wanted some action so upon noticing master11 fast asleep on the sofa I wrote a note that I would be back in an hour with ice lollies for his throat.

Off I pedalled to town. With not a cloud in the sky and at 15°C, it was a gloriously relaxing amble.

Pit stop on the Flitch Way

After 21km of fresh air and sun, I was ready to tackle the house chores and walk the dog (more sun). It wasn’t the distance that I had planned at 6 o’clock when I woke but it will do just fine.
