It was a day off with a lie in. After being woken by Mrs B2W getting up for work and then later by the cat, I was surprised to be woken again by my alarm ay 08.30. I went for a doggie walk into an already warm and sunny day and smashed the hoovering and lawn before starting on Master15’s bike cleaning maintenance. That done, I convinced master12 to ride up to the Flitch with me to get some beer from the shops. He didn’t want beer so had a Slushie.
It was warm, warm in a no gloves, short sleeves sunny kind of way. The rest of West Essex felt the same way piling on to the trail in their droves. It was like riding in the Netherlands rather than England there were that may people out on bikes. I shall now call the Flitch “New Amsterdam” until this whole lock down thing goes away. Then people will rely once more on their cars to get them to places where they can ride their bikes. Or not. I suspect that they will leave them once more in their sheds and garages as they become used to their previous “freedom”. I hope that some don’t but just enough do so that I can let our ditzy dog off the lead more often.
There is worrying news about the effect that this crisis is having on non C word health care with startling projects on waiting lists for operations and the number of deaths related to chronic conditions. In short, more people will die, but without being Covid positive. More people are dying who have the C word but they aren’t in the official figures just yet as only hospital deaths are accurately up to date. There are lot more people dead with thing than we know.
Total UK deaths (in hospital only): 20,732 (413)
