10th May

After yesterday’s world record ride and a late night movie outside, I was looking forward to some R&R with the family. This involved negotiating a power sharing agreement with Mrs B2W in the kitchen for the roast beef lunch and a FaceTime chat with Grandma in NZ for mothers day. Being a different date than the UK, I forgot so played the C word card that has disrupted our lives.

I pedalled up the Flitch on a cool, windy day to find some horseradish sauce and to keep my legs turning. There was no sauce but due to the need to get back and make gravy, I couldn’t go further. Even if I wanted to, I didn’t really fancy fighting the wind anyway. That could wait until tomorrow for a longer ride.

After a late lunch there was general lounging about and a doggie walk before grazing on leftovers. Then came yet another underwhelming speech by #10 about a gradual easing of this lock down. Again it is vague, non explicit and disappointing in its clarity. We don’t have to stay at home and save lives anymore but stay “alert”. So we can travel to parks to exercise as much as we like and even drive our car to work if we can’t work from home. What if you can’t work from home but your kids aren’t back to school?

So more road traffic is in the pipeline and given peoples’ ability to read what they like into things, thing will feel more “normal”, people will relax their diligence leading to the risk of an increasing transmission of this dreadful C word. Needless to say, I am skeptical of our Governments ability to charter a clear path out of this mess.
